US dollar bounces, Rupiah hits 20 points to Rp14,127 / USD
The rupiah exchange rate moved negative again against the US dollar (USD) on Tuesday (07/07/2019) this morning in the spot market. Bloomberg data, our love currency is depressed by 20 points or 0.14% to the level of Rp14,127 per USD.
In the initial session, the rupiah opened to continue to weaken 2 points to Rp14,109 per USD, compared to Monday's closing level of Rp14,107 per USD.
The rupiah weakened again on Tuesday.
Similarly, Yahoo Finance data noted that the rupiah depreciated 20 points or 0.14% to the level of Rp14,125 per USD, compared to yesterday's closing position at Rp14,105 per USD.
In contrast, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) reference rate, pegged the rupiah middle rate on Tuesday, at the level of Rp14,129 per USD, appreciating 18 points compared to the position of Rp.14,147 per USD on Monday.
The US dollar re-established its strength to maintain at a three-week high this Tuesday. Launching from Reuters, the grip of the dollar as investors reduced expectations of US interest rate cuts ahead of the meeting of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell with Congress discussing the economy of the North American Sam.
In addition, the dollar helped because the British pound weakened again, as speculation that the Bank of England will soon join the other central banks to make monetary policy in the face of the rising global economy and Britain's departure from the European Union.
"The US dollar bounced back so there was some downside risk for the euro and the pound," said Masafumi Yamamoto, head of the currency strategy at Mizuho Securities in Tokyo.
