Russia regrets new sanctions by US
Russia regrets the decision of the United States (US) to impose new sanctions on them. The new sanctions are linked to attacks with nerve poison against Sergei Skripal, in which the US and Britain accused Russia of the attacks.
The Minister of Finance, as well as Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister, Anton Siluanov said additional witnesses to Russia were dangerous for bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington.
"A flexible macroeconomic system and wise budgetary policies that we have made allow rapid adaptation of our economy to an external hostile environment," Siluanov said, as reported by Sputnik on Sunday (4/8).
Regarding the problem of potential sanctions against Russian state debt, Siluanov assured that the existing financial system in the country was able to accommodate the needs of the budget and business in borrowed resources.
Earlier, the US Treasury announced that it was implementing two sanctions against Russia as part of measures imposed by the US government under the Control of Chemical and Biological Weapons and the War Elimination Act 1991 (CBW Act), in response to the use of Russia over the nerve agent "Novichok" in Salisbury, England on March 2018, "
In its statement, the department insisted that Moscow failed to comply with the conditions described in the CBW Act."To implement sanctions related to US bank loans, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Ministry of Finance issued Russian Related Directives under Executive Order August 1, 2019," he said. { Source }
