The activities of children who are busy in their daily lives make them need balanced nutrition intake. However, getting children to eat healthy commodities is not without obstacles.
Today, a variety of snack and meal packaging options are so easy to find, even marketed accurately to target children. Not surprisingly, their consumption of vegetables and fruit is often overlooked.
In line with the 'Eat Like A Pro' campaign, Beko, the home appliances brand, again invites parents, especially mothers, to pay more attention to the healthy intake for children. One of them is by preparing nutrient-rich snacks to support daily activities and growth of children.
World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the consumption of vegetables and fruit in children as much as 5 servings or about 400 grams per day. Unfortunately, based on Beko's global survey, only 1 in 5 children knows the recommended daily portion of vegetables and fruit.
In Asia, the ratio is much worse. While in Indonesia, 2018 Riskesdas said only 5% of Indonesian people consume vegetables and fruit sufficiently. In fact, the benefits of consuming vegetables and fruits as recommended are inevitable.
From maintaining the condition of the body, smooth digestion, to prevent the risk of various non-communicable diseases, and obesity conditions in children. This is what drives us to initiate the 'Eat Like A Pro' campaign, "said Ali Cagri Gonculer, Beko Indonesia's Country General Manager.
However, children are reluctant to eat it, even completely reject the two types of sources of nutrition and vitamins. They become 'food pickers' and only want to enjoy the food they like.
Well, habits from an early age become a key factor that has a strong influence on fondling and not children to eat vegetables and fruit. Therefore, introducing various types of fruits or vegetables should be done since the period of MPASI (Complementary Food for Mother's Milk) or the age of 6-12 months.
Thus, at the next age, children are more accustomed to the aroma and taste of vegetables and fruit so they can love it. This is where the role of parents is increasingly crucial. Not only understanding and diligence, but an ingenious way is also needed to change the 'food picker' into a 'lover of vegetables and fruit'.
